Hey Readers,

Today I thought I’d share what other people are saying about Just the Way You Are.  Below are some recent reviewers.

Just the Way You Are by Allison M. Lewis is a fantastic fairy tale showcasing disabled princess and the prince that loved her. Misty Miles is the princess everyone wants to be, until they find out her wheelchair isn’t just for show. Her parents have locked her away as a way to protect her and the kingdom, and yet they are actually hurting their daughter with self-doubt and misunderstanding. Derrick Denison is the prince from the next kingdom, and he and Misty are star crossed lovers. Misty is willing to do whatever it takes to be the woman that Derrick needs, and yet she fails to see that she may already be just that woman. I really enjoyed this story, and feel like it needs to be read in all schools – especially those that have disabled children in them. This book was full of love and respect for those who are different than other people and show that just because you are different doesn’t mean that you don’t deserve a happy ending. This is the first book that I have read by Allison M. Lewis but if her other works are anything like this one than I will be buying them for sure. If you are looking for a feel good book that is guaranteed to leave you with a warm afterglow than this is the book for you.

I just want to thank the author so much for making a not so perfect princess. This was a true fairy tale story for me. The way the prince put people before himself was so sweet. I was so happy when the princess didn’t listen to her parents. The author did such a good thing writing about how everyone can get their wish no matter who you are. This book was so well-written and carefully thought-out, I can tell. The story had real problems which is nice because it made everything possible. Yes, there was Prince Charming but the glass slipper was a wheelchair in a few different situations. I want to read this to my daughter when she gets older.

Just The Way You are by Allison M. Lewis was a sweet, powerful story about excepting yourself, flaws and all.

This is that perfect bedtime story that should be read to every child. Short and to the point this beautifully written story is what we need to see more of, in not only children’s books, but books of all genres. How many books out there have MC’s that have a major disability? You can probably count them on one had (I’m taking fiction like YA, NA, and fantasy). This book is breaking down barriers and showing us that, yes, you can do anything no matter who you are, fit, not fit, able, disable.

Misty Miles is a strong role model, she is what children need to be looking up to. There is a path Misty undergoes, because she wants to find her true love, but she also wants to dance. Through magic, conditions, and realization, Misty grows, learns, and finds true love in a different way.

I can’t tell you enough how much I loved this book. It is uplifting and, as I said, perfect for story time. The reading is easy, the flow is smooth and the content is easy to understand.

I want this book to be everywhere, schools, libraries, bookstores and pre-schools. Break the stigma, everyone has the right to be who that want to be and not be judge, told they can’t because they are different. We need more books like this, the time for perfect princesses and princes are over.

Take my high recommendation that you will be changed from reading this beautifully crafted story.

Happy Reading
